11 Feb 2009

While the Takaful market has thus far been slower to develop than many expected, experts continue to predict major growth opportunities notwithstanding the fall-out from the global economic crisis – and point the way towards an industry with strong fundamental factors that could propel Takaful, according to McKinsey’s research for the WIBC Competitiveness Report 08/09, to become an $11 billion industry by 2015.

The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference (WTC 2009), which will be held on the 14th and 15th of April 2009 at the Dusit Thani, Dubai, UAE, will bring together more than 300 industry leaders representing key financial centres from across the world to map out how growth prospects can be revitalised and debate how business models will change in the Shari’ah-compliant insurance industry in the context of the global economic crisis. Ernst & Young’s eagerly anticipated 2009 edition of The World Takaful Report will also be released at WTC 2009 and is expected to probe how the Islamic insurance industry can catalyse the next phase of growth, providing industry leaders with new insights as they seek to review their business strategies in a challenging economic climate.

Convened with the strategic partnership of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC),The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference has firmly established itself as the pre-eminent forum where industry leaders from across the world gather to chart the post-crisis landscape. WTC 2009 builds on 4 years of successfully gathering together international Takaful and Insurance Operators, Re-Takaful and Re-Insurance players, Captive insurance firms, underwriters, major brokers, and leading legal and advisory firms.
